It carries a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder making it one of the most powerful engines in a midsize truck. Although the Maverick comes in an all-wheel-drive option, it does have lower ground clearance. The base model will not feature much in the off-roading area but can be easily upgraded with a leveling lift kit. The Ranger has slightly more clearance than the Maverick and is available with a trail-focused Tremor package, which adds shocks and more suspension lift.
The Maverick is the perfect truck for weekend warriors who need a vehicle to handle light towing and hauling. With 2,000 pounds of standard towing capacity and 4,000 pounds with the optional towing package, the Maverick can get the job done without sacrificing any fun. However, the Ranger is more capable of serious hauling; with a max capacity of 7,500 pounds, it can handle even the heaviest loads. So, if you're looking for a truck that can take a heavy load, the Ford Ranger may be the better option.
