Why Lift Your UTV?

A UTV lift raises the frame and body farther from trail obstacles. Common benefits include:

  • More clearance over rocks, roots, and ruts
  • Space for larger tires on supported applications
  • Improved approach, breakover, and departure angles

A suspension lift raises the chassis, but it does not add much clearance beneath the axles or differentials. Taller tires provide added clearance at those points.

Always review the listed tire capacity for your specific lift kit. Tire width, wheel offset, suspension travel, and body design also affect fitment.

How Does a UTV Lift Kit Work?

A UTV lift kit works by repositioning or replacing suspension components to raise the chassis. Bracket and spacer kits change the mounting position of the factory shocks or add preload to the suspension. Adjustable coilover kits replace the factory shocks, giving you greater control over ride height and suspension response.

Both styles raise the frame and body rather than the axles or differentials. Taller tires provide added clearance beneath those drivetrain components. A lift also changes suspension and CV axle angles, making model-specific fitment and proper installation important.

Types of UTV Suspension Lifts

Bracket and Spacer Lift Kits

Bracket and spacer kits reposition parts of the factory suspension to increase ride height. Most Rough Country UTV lift kits add around 2 to 3 inches of lift while retaining the factory shocks.

These kits work well for trail riding, hunting, property work, mud, and recreational use.

Choose this style when your main goal is:

  • Added ground clearance
  • Room for larger tires
  • A simple bolt-on upgrade
  • A lower-cost lift option

Adjustable Coilover Suspension Kits

Adjustable coilovers replace the factory shocks and provide more control over ride height and suspension response.

Rough Country offers M1 and Vertex Suspension Kits for select machines. These systems suit drivers who want added clearance and better ride control.

Vertex is our premium adjustable UTV suspension option. Vertex kits are available for select Polaris Ranger, Can-Am Defender, Honda Pioneer, and CFMOTO UFORCE applications. They provide 0 to 2 inches of lift and 16-stage adjustable damping, allowing you to tune the suspension for different loads and terrain.

Vertex works well for owners who mix workloads, passengers, and varied terrain. The best option depends on your machine, so the following Rough Country lift and suspension recommendations provide clear starting points.

Polaris Ranger

We offer several lift options for the Polaris Ranger platform, including 3-inch kits for select Ranger XP 900, Ranger XP 1000, and Ranger Crew XP 1000 applications.

The Rough Country 3-Inch Lift Kit for the Polaris Ranger XP 1000 adds clearance for tires up to 28 inches. This kit does not fit NorthStar or Waterfowl editions.

Rough Country also offers a separate 3-inch lift kit for select Ranger XP 1000 HVAC models. HVAC-equipped Rangers require model-specific hardware, so do not substitute a standard Ranger XP 1000 kit.

Adjustable Suspension Kits and Vertex systems are available for supported Ranger 1000 and Ranger XP 900/1000 models. These options provide added ride control for changing loads and terrain.

Fitment varies across standard, XP, Crew, HVAC-equipped, and special-edition models. Match the kit to the full model name, year, and seating configuration before ordering.

Can-Am Defender

The Rough Country 3-Inch Lift Kit for the Can-Am Defender adds clearance for select HD5, HD8, HD9, and HD10 applications.

We also offer Adjustable Suspension Kits and Vertex systems for select Defender models. Choose between a fixed lift and adjustable suspension based on your tire goals, cargo load, and preferred ride control.

The featured Defender lift supports tires up to 28 inches. A spring compressor is required during installation, and wheel spacers might be necessary when using stock or stock-backspaced wheels. Verify the exact year, model, and configuration before ordering.

Can-Am Defender

Honda Pioneer

The Rough Country 3-Inch Lift Kit for the Honda Pioneer 1000 adds clearance through a bolt-on design.

Adjustable Suspension Kits and Vertex options are available for select Pioneer 1000, Pioneer 1000-5, and Pioneer 1000-6 applications. Vehicles with cargo racks or other accessories might not achieve the full 2 inches of lift offered by the Vertex system.

The featured 3-inch Pioneer lift supports tires up to 28 inches. Rear wheel spacers are required when retaining the factory rear wheels. Confirm the year, model, seating configuration, and wheel setup before ordering.

Honda Pioneer 1000

CFMOTO UFORCE

Rough Country offers a 2-inch lift kit for the CFMOTO UFORCE 1000. This kit provides added chassis clearance while retaining the factory suspension.

We also offer Vertex Adjustable Suspension Kits for select CFMOTO UFORCE applications. Vertex adds adjustable ride height and damping for owners who want more control over ride quality, cargo loads, and changing terrain.

Confirm the exact UFORCE model, year, and seating configuration before ordering. Tire fitment depends on wheel offset, tire width, and available clearance.

CF Moto UForce

Kawasaki Mule PRO-FXR

Rough Country offers a 3-inch lift kit for the Kawasaki Mule PRO-FXR. This lift suits owners who use their Mule for property work, hunting, rough access roads, and recreational trail riding.

Match the kit to the exact Mule model and year. Kawasaki Mule platforms use different suspension layouts, so a kit listed for the PRO-FXR should not be treated as a universal Mule lift.

Verify tire width, wheel offset, and clearance before selecting larger tires.

Kawasaki Teryx

Rough Country lists a 2-Inch Lift Kit for the Kawasaki Teryx 4 1000. Current vehicle fitment specifically lists select Teryx KRX 4 1000 models, so verify the full vehicle name, trim, and year before ordering.

The product page does not publish a maximum tire size for this kit. Check tire width, wheel offset, and available clearance for your exact setup rather than assuming the 28-inch recommendation listed for other Rough Country UTV lifts applies.

Yamaha Viking

The Rough Country 2-Inch Lift Kit for the Yamaha Viking 700 works well for property use, hunting trails, mud, and general recreation.

The featured Viking lift supports tires up to 28 inches and fits listed Viking and Viking VI applications. Confirm your model year and full vehicle designation before ordering.

What to Check Before Installing a UTV Lift

Before selecting a kit, confirm:

  • Exact make, model, year, trim, and seating configuration
  • Recommended tire size and wheel offset
  • Clearance at full steering lock
  • Brake-line and wiring clearance
  • Axle and CV angles
  • Cargo and accessory weight

After installation, torque the hardware, check alignment, and inspect the suspension after the first ride. Continue checking ball joints, tie rods, axles, and wheel bearings as part of routine maintenance.

So, which lift kit is right for you? Choose a bracket or spacer lift when your main goals are ground clearance, larger tires, and straightforward installation.

Choose an Adjustable Suspension Kit when you want ride-height adjustment and improved shock performance.

Choose Vertex when you want 16-stage adjustable damping and greater control over ride quality on a supported Polaris Ranger, Can-Am Defender, Honda Pioneer, or CFMOTO UFORCE.

FAQs

What is the best UTV lift kit for off-roading?

The best kit depends on your machine and how you plan to use it. A 2-inch lift works well for general trails, while a 3-inch lift adds more clearance for rocks, ruts, and larger tires on supported utility UTVs. Adjustable Suspension Kits or Vertex systems suit owners seeking better ride control along with adjustable ride height.

How does lifting a UTV affect performance?

A lift adds chassis clearance and creates space for larger tires. It also raises the center of gravity and changes suspension and axle angles. These changes affect cornering, steering, acceleration, and component wear.

Do larger tires fit after installing a UTV lift?

Several featured Rough Country kits support tires up to 28 inches, including the Ranger XP 1000, RZR XP 1000, Can-Am Defender, Honda Pioneer 1000, and Yamaha Viking 700 kits. Tire capacity is not universal. Check the individual product page, wheel offset, tire width, and vehicle fitment before ordering.

Does a lifted UTV need an alignment?

Check the alignment after changing suspension height. Incorrect toe settings lead to uneven tire wear and poor handling.
