Builds2025 4Runner TRD Lift, Tires, and More – Our Rough Country Build Breakdown

Toyota didn’t hold back with the 2025 TRD Off-Road Edition. Right off the lot, it’s packed with features like:

• 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine
• Multi-terrain select and crawl control
• Factory skid plates
• Locking rear differential
• A strong, trail-ready stance

It’s a solid foundation, and for many people, it’s good to go. But we saw room to make it better for real-world trail use and everyday functionality.

Like most factory setups, the 4Runner had a slight rake—lower in the front than the rear. We fixed that with our 2-inch leveling kit. It’s a simple upgrade that evens out the stance and makes the vehicle look more balanced, especially when you start adding accessories or upsizing tires.

It’s one of the easiest ways to get more out of your vehicle without overhauling the suspension.

After leveling, we decided to go further with a 3.5-inch suspension lift. The extra clearance gives the 4Runner more confidence off-road and allows for even more tire options down the line.

• Better approach, breakover, and departure angles

This setup doesn’t compromise on comfort or drivability. You get the performance boost without giving up how it handles on the road.

With the lift in place, it was time to give the 4Runner a stronger stance—and real off-road traction to match. We went with a combo that delivers both style and performance: RC Series 78 wheels wrapped in our 285/65R18 Rough Country M/T Dual Sidewall Tires.

Wheels:

• 18x9 design gives the rig a wider, more confident stance
• Matte black finish pairs cleanly with the TRD Off-Road look
• Durable construction built to handle harsh terrain

Tires:

• 10-ply construction for serious trail durability
• Mud and snow rated for all-season versatility
• Steel belted for strength with a smooth on-road ride
• Load Range E to support heavier setups with no sweat
• Dual sidewall design lets you choose your style

This wheel and tire setup isn’t just for looks—it’s built to perform when the trail gets rough and still keeps things comfortable on the highway.

Finally, we added a Rough Country Hood Scoop. It’s a quick install and gives the 4Runner a bit more edge without overdoing it.

It's a small upgrade, but it pulls the whole build together visually.

This is just the start. We’ll continue building this 4Runner out over the coming weeks—think bumpers, lighting, storage options, and more. Our goal is to create something practical, not overbuilt. A rig that looks good, drives great, and performs when it needs to.
